Randy Boyagoda is the author of Governor of the Northern Province. His short story 'Rice and Curry Yacht Club' was one of the winners of the 2005 Journey Prize. Randy was born in Oshawa, Ontario, near Toronto. He is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Notre Dame. He has had articles on contemporary culture published in both Canadian and US periodicals, including The Walrus, The National Review, The Mississippi Quarterly, The University of Toronto Quarterly, and The New Pantagruel. His fiction has also appeared in Queen Street Quarterly, Pagitica, Descant, Lichen, and Another Toronto Quarterly. He was awarded a PhD in English from Boston University in 2004 (his dissertation was on immigration, race, and American identity in the fiction of Salman Rushdie, Ralph Ellison, and William Faulkner. Randy Boyagoda has also been a doctoral research fellow at the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada. He is currently at work at a short story collection called Make Believe City.
