Roch Carrier was born in Ste-Justine, Quebec, in 1937. He is an author, playwright and journalist. His works include La Guerre? Yes Sir!, Prayers of a Very Wise Child and The Hockey Sweater. His novels are considered classics of Canadian literature. His newest book, Our Life with The Rocket: The Maurice Richard Story, will be published in the fall. Roch is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, an Officer of the Order of Canada and a recipient of the Stephen Leacock Medal. Director of the Canadian Council for the Arts between 1994 and 1997, he was named Canada's National Librarian in 1999.
