James Alan Gardner has published four science fiction novels: Expendable, Commitment Hour, Vigilant, and Hunted. His work has been nominated for both the Hugo and Nebula awards, and has twice won Canada's Aurora Award. Recently, he received the Kitchener-Waterloo Arts Award. While at university, James joined FASS, an annual musical comedy revue, which he helped write for more than a decade. Writing for FASS led to other theatrical writing, including plays for radio and television. At the same time, James wrote computer documentation, eventually leading to four computer textbooks.
