Isabel Huggan was born in Kitchener in 1943. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario with a B.A. in English and Philosophy, she worked for 10 years as a copy editor, teacher, and newspaper reporter. Besides writing short stories, essays, and reviews, she leads creative writing workshops in Canada and abroad, and works as an editor and manuscript consultant. Since 1987 she has lived with her husband in Kenya, the Philippines, and France, and is currently a mentor for the Humber School for Writers correspondence program.
