Tristan Hughes was born in Atikokan, Ontario, where he lived for two years before moving to Wales. He was educated at Ysgol David Hughes, Menai Bridge, the universities of York and Edinburgh, and King's College, Cambridge, where he completed a PhD thesis on Pacific and American literature. His first published story won the Rhys Davies Short Story competition in 2002. His first two novels, The Tower, and Send My Cold Bones Home, were highly-praised in the United Kingdom. Revenant is his third novel.
