Gordon Lish is one of the most respected and controversial figures in contemporary American literature. He is the author of Dear Mr. Capote, What I Know So Far, Peru and Mourner at the Door, among many other books. This body of work, together with his activities as a teacher, founder and editor of The Quarterly, editor at Knopf, and fiction editor at Esquire have placed him at the forefront of the American literary scene.
