Daphne Marlatt was born in Melbourne, Australia, and grew up in Penang, Malaysia, until her family immigrated to Canada in 1951. She has been writing, teaching, and editing for more than two decades. Her poetry collections include How Hug a Stone, Touch to My Tongue, and Salvage. Her novels, Ana Historic and Taken, enjoyed wide critical acclaim. Daphne now lives in Victoria, British Colombia.
