Frank McCourt, winner of the Pulitzer Prize, was born in 1930 in New York. He moved to Ireland with his family at the age of four, where he lived until he was 19. He was a writing teacher at Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan for many years and performed with his brother Malachy in A Couple of Blaguards, a musical review about their Irish youth. His memoir, Angela's Ashes, was an overwhelming critical success and international bestseller. He lives in New York City.
