Don McKay is the author of nine books of poetry, two of which, Nightfield and Another Gravity, won Governor General's Literary Awards. Vis à Vis, his first work of prose, was also shortlisted for a Governor General's in 2002. He has taught creative writing at the University of Western Ontario and the University of New Brunswick. McKay lives on Vancouver Island, where he recently held the first writer-in-residence position at Haig-Brown House in Campbell River. Deactivated West 100 is Don McKay's latest set of variations on poetics of place.
