Susan McMaster's new book, Waging Peace: Poetry and Political Action, is being launched by Penumbra at the 2002 Ottawa International Writers Festival. It collects poetry and art from across Canada that was given to all MPs and Senators in 2001 as part of Convergence: Poems for Peace. McMaster has published four poetry books, including Uncommon Prayer, plus word-music collections, recordings and scripts; edited anthologies, series, books and magazines; founded the feminist magazine Branching Out; and toured across the country with the inter-media group First Draft. Since 1996, she's been the spoken word poet in Geode Music & Poetry (formerly SugarBeat), recording two CDs with musical friends and performing widely for broadcast and at festivals, events and venues in Ottawa and beyond.
