English Lessons and Other Stories, What the Body Remembers, and The Tiger Claw, for which she has received numerous awards, including India’s Shastri Award for short prose, the Friends of American Writers Award, the Writer’s Union of Canada Prize for short prose, and the Commonwealth Prize for Best Book (Canada and the Caribbean). She lives in Milwaukee.
