Ronny Someck was born in Baghdad in 1951 and was uprooted from Iraq when he was four. Transplanted to Israel, he spent his childhood in a transit camp for new immigrants. He is the author of eight books of poetry, including Exile, Bloody Mary and his latest, The Fire Stays in Red. He has won several Israeli awards, including the Prime Minister's Prize and the Afrat Prize. Ronny's work has been translated into 22 languages, including Arabic, Catalan and Albanian.
