Alan Spence is an award-winning novelist, short story writer, poet and playwright. He lives in Edinburgh where he and his wife run the Sri Chinmoy Meditation Centre. His books include the story collections Its Colours They Are Fine and Stone Garden, the novels The Magic Flute and Way to Go, and most recently a collection of haiku poetry, Seasons of the Heart. Alan is currently writer-in-residence at the University of Aberdeen where he is Artistic Director of the Word writers' festival.
