Luise von Flotow has translated numerous books of Quebec fiction, mainly by women writers such as Madeleine Ouellette-Michalska, Anne Dandurand, France Théoret, and Madeleine Monette. She also works from German - whenever there is a chance - and has translated Emine Sevgi Ozdamar's Life is a Carawanserai as well as short texts by Herta Mueller, Elfriede Jelinek and others. Her most recent work is on Ulrike Meinhof, former German journalist of the 1960s, turned underground urban guerilla in the 1970s.
