Nalini Warriar was born in Kerala, India, and grew up in Assam and Bombay. A molecular biologist, she lived in Germany and France before settling in Canada in 1986. She won the 2002 Quebec Writers' Federation McAuslan First Book Prize for Blues From the Malabar Coast. She has a doctorate from Laval University in Quebec City, where she now lives with her husband and their two children. She has completed her first novel, The Enemy Within, and is working on her second.
