Linda Carey

Linda Carey was born and raised in North London. She studied English at university, specialising in medieval literature, and went on to train as an English and Drama teacher. She taught in schools and colleges for over twelve years, and began writing stories for her own children at the same time.

In 2002 she joined the London Metropolitan Archives as education officer, where she pursued interests in London theatrical, Jewish and Black history and produced articles for the archive’s website. In 2006-8 she wrote the Darkest Age fantasy trilogy (Bloomsbury) for young adults, under the name A.J Lake.

She has three children, all of whom love writing. She is currently co-writing a novel, The Steel Seraglio , commissioned by Canada’s Chizine Publications, with her husband Mike and daughter Louise.
