One on One
with Vikas Swarup

Hosted by Peter Schneider
"Swarup is a skilled storyteller who doesn't hesitate to take on some of the most troublesome issues of his native land--corruption, caste, color, tradition--as he also captures and celebrates its sights and sounds in this fast-moving mystery.

Vikas Swarup joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1986, motivated by an interest in international relations and a desire to explore different cultures, and currently serves as India’s High Commissioner to Canada.

It was an international sensation, published in 43 languages, short listed for the Commonwealth Writer’s Prize and won the Paris Book Fair’s Reader’s Prize. The film version, titled Slumdog Millionaire , took the world by storm, winning more than 70 awards including four Golden Globes, 7 BAFTAs and a staggering 8 Oscars, including Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture.
